Originally built in the late 18th century, this charming family-run hotel has been completely refurbished to offer all modern comforts, whilst maintaining the character of the existing building. Object id #73 om, on request. Hitchin is easily accessed from the M1 (10-15 minutes) and A1M (5 minutes). The Lord Lister has its own guest car park at the rear of the hotel. As the hotel is close to the M1, it is convenient for those visiting Stevenage, Letchworth or Luton. Lord Lister is also within convenient reach of Cambridge, London's West End and the City, Luton Airport and Central England. By Car: From the M1: - Exit at junction 10. - Follow the A505 ring road around Luton, heading towards Hitchin. - At Hitchin, continue on the A505 following the signs to Stevenage and the A1 (M). - At the large roundabout at the top of the hill, take the first exit, signposted Hitchin Town Centre (you will pass the Three Moorhens Pub on your left). - The Lord Lister is a further 500 yards on the right, off a mini roundabout. From the A1(M): - Exit at junction 8. - Take the exit signposted A602 to Luton Airport and Hitchin. - Follow this road for approximately 3 miles. - At the first roundabout, take the fourth exit signposted Hitchin Town Centre (you will pass the Three Moorhens Pub on your left). - The Lord Lister is a further 500 yards on the right, off a mini roundabout. Local Attractions : •  St. Mary's church (1 Mile) - The church is mainly of the 14th and 15th century but the foundations of a Saxon church lie under the floor of the Nave and are probably those of the original building. •  The Priory (1 Mile) - 14th century. •  First Garden City Heritage Museum (5 Miles) - The museum is housed in a thatched building that was the drawing offices of the towns' original architects Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. It provides a fascinating insight into the vision of Ebenezer Howard, one of the world's great social reformers. •  Knebworth House, Park and Gardens (16 Miles) - Historic Knebworth House and Gardens, home to the Lytton family for over 500 years, is surrounded by 250 acres of beautiful parkland.
