By Car: Whitecroft Mansion is situated in the village of Carrutherstown, equal distance from Dumfries and Annan, and with easy access to the M74. From the A75 (from Annan to Dumfries): - Take the Carrutherstown turn-off on the right, about 5 miles outside Annan. - Turn immediately left, then right on the B725 signposted to Dalton. - Turn right after approximately 1/2 mile on the track signposted to Whitecroft Farm. - Follow this track down to Whitecroft Mansion. From the North: - Carrutherstown is easily accessed from Ecclefechan, (junction 19 of the M74). By Air: Newcastle Airport: 50 miles. Prestwick Airport: 60 miles. Local Attractions : •  Caerlaverock Castle (6.37 Miles) - This ancient seat of the Maxwell family is a splendid medieval stronghold dating back to the 13th century. It has high walls and round towers, with machicolations added in the 15th century. •  Burns Mausoleum (8.28 Miles) - The mausoleum is in the form of a Greek temple, and contains the tombs of Robert Burns, his wife Jean Armour, and their five sons. A sculptured group shows the Muse of Poetry flinging her cloak over Burns at the plough. •  Savings Banks Museum (3.01 Miles) - Housed in the building where Savings Banks first began, the museum traces their growth and development from 1810 up to the present day. The museum also traces the life of Dr Henry Duncan, father of savings banks, and restorer of the Ruthwell Cross.
