It remained a temperance hotel until 1950s when it changed from The Feathers Temperance Hotel to the now Central Hotel. The building is in common with other buildings in the square and is a grade 2 listed.

It was also the local place to attend Tea Dances in the Tudor Room of the Hotel in the 40's/50's.
