Set in mature garden grounds, with Loch Ness and Fort Augustus close by, this converted former Scottish farmhouse offers modern facilities with an old world charm. Object id #67 Guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in front of log fires, beamed ceilings or play a game of pool or table tennis. Loch Ness and Fort Augustus are only 2 miles from Auchterawe Country House, where you'll find shops, pubs and restaurants. The Caledonian Canal with its 5 lock staircase is a central part of Fort Augustus, where guests can watch the leisure boats and ships travel through from the canal into Loch Ness itself. We offer our guests a warm, friendly family welcome. We have double and family en suite rooms, and twin rooms with separate shower room. All of our rooms have mountain views. Guests have the use of the conservatory to admire the Great Glen mountain range beyond. Relax in front of the log fire in the guest TV lounge, where you can help yourselves to tea and coffee, or if you are feeling more energetic, have a game of pool, table tennis or chess in our games room with beamed ceiling and a wood burning stove. Mountain bike hire is available for you to explore many of the hill and mountain tracks, or, simply just walk along the riverside walks which are just outside your door. This former Scottish farmhouse has had many different uses in the past. It has been used as a farmhouse, forestry offices and more recently as a summer school for children in the borders of Scotland. In spite of all these different uses, it still retains many of its original features. From a82 North Before reaching the village of Fort Augustus, turn right at The Inchnacardoch Hotel sign posted for Auchterawe. Take next right, sign posted to Auchterawe and continue along for approx 400m where the road turns slightly to left, again sign for Auchterawe, continue along this road past Forestry Commission Offices for approx 2miles where you will see sign for 'Auchterawe Country House'. From a82 South upon reaching the village continue along a82 where you will see Gulf petrol station on left. Continue pass tourist car park and take next left up Bunoich Brae (short steep hill). Continue for 400 metres until you come to a t junction sign posted to Auchterawe. Continue along this road for approx 400m where road turns slightly to left (sign for Auchterawe)continue along this road past Forestry Commission Office for approx 2miles where you will see the sign for 'Auchterawe Country House' Local Attractions : •  Fort Augustus (2 Miles) - Award Winning village of Fort Augustus is one of the most attactive villages in Scotland and is only a short distance away. Providing many shops, pubs and restaurants. •  Caledonian Canal (2 Miles) - Enjoy a walk along the famous Caledonian Canal, which was built by Thomas Telford in the last centurary, and watch the boats pass through the locks from Loch Ness. •  Loch Ness (3 Miles) - The world famous Loch Ness and its famous 'Nessie' monster are only a short distance away, maybe you will see her! •  Urquhart Castle (15 Miles) - Urquhart Castle is most famous for its many sightings of the famous Loch Ness Monster and is one of the most visited castles in Scotland. It provides a visitors centre and coffee shop.
