Local Attractions :
• Cawdor Castle (5 Miles) - Romantically linked to Macbeth by Shakespeare Cawdor is the ancestral home of the Thane. Parts of the castle which is occupied by the Dowager Countess in the winter date back to the 14th century. The gardens and castle are a must for visitors to the area.
• Fort Gearge (5 Miles) - Fort George was built during the aftermath of Culloden. It is one of the finest examples of a fortified battlement. Although building started in 1749 and even today is occupied by Highland regiments on rotation a shot has never been fired in anger.
• Culloden Battlefield (9 Miles) - The site of the last battle on mainland Britain in April 1746 between Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Government forces led by the Duke of Cumberland.
The slaughter of the Jacobites and the clearances gave Cumberland the title 'Butcher Cumberland'.
• Loch Ness 2000 (25 Miles) - A multi language, audio visual computer generated tour and history of the creation of the Great Glen and Loch Ness. It chronicles the sightings of the monster and leaves you to make the decision as to whether Nessie exists or not. Not to be missed.
