At the end of the 17th century, a row of cottages stood here, one of which can still be seen today on the corner opposite Church House. The hotel caters for local people, businesses and visitors to the area, and provides excellent service in elegant surroundings. The ground floor was recently extensively redesigned to create a new bar, restaurant, reception and private dining suite. The Phoenix succeeded another famous hotel in Dereham, the King's Arms which stood overlooking the Market Place. It has been said that the Phoenix was so named as it rose like the mythical bird from the ashes of the King's Arms. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift.
The hotel policy is that Saturday night bookings are a minimum of a two night stay. Please be aware hotel front doors close after 11:30pm.
Situated at the very heart of Norfolk's Breckland, we are 15 miles from Norwich, its airport, which has regular links to the Continent, and the main line railway station with links to London. The a47 trunk road is close by.
