Object id #45

Whether looking for a relaxing 'away from it all' break, a central point for touring the rest of the Lake District or a Walking Holiday, the Haweswater Hotel is ideally located. Situated on the shores of Haweswater, the hotel is the only building in this quiet and secluded valley. The location lends itself to a peaceful and relaxing break, a theme continued inside the hotel itself and as such there are no televisions or telephones in the bedrooms. Everywhere you look are stunning views of the lake, hills and forests that make this such a beautiful and peaceful place. The hotel has always been a popular venue for walkers, nature lovers and people in search of tranquillity. The area is home to red squirrels, foxes, owls, red deer & badgers and is the only place in England where the golden eagle can be seen in the wild. 14 comfortable rooms and a self-contained apartment, most having lake or fell views. Open log fires. Fully licensed bar. Large dining room overlooking the lake (to ensure a table on your night of arrival please pre book). Lake View Terrace, Garden & Patio Area. Ample parking.
The Hotel offers first class, freshly prepared local food, combined with welcoming hospitality and cosy, comfortable accommodation in this friendly family run non-smoking hotel. Come and relax beside one of the roaring log fires and soak up the views and tranquillity.

A Lakeside setting with stunning scenery in this quiet and secluded valley of the Golden Eagle. Ideally situated for a relaxing "away from it all" break, walking holiday or a central base for the rest of the Lakes, just 19 km (12 miles) from the M6.

From Ullswater:
- Turn south between Pooley Bridge and Eamont Bridge.
- Travel via Askham to Naddle Gate.

Local Attractions :
•  Fishing - A good head of wild brown trout, char, gwyniad and perch can be found in the lake. Bank fishing, fly only, is free to all holders of Environment Agency licence (no maggot or loose feeding is allowed)
•  Golden Eagle in Haweswater - Golden Eagle
A pair had been nesting near Riggindale since 1969. The female died in May 2004, leaving the young male searching for a mate. He can be seen regularly in the warmer months & remains the only place in England where the golden eagle nests.
•  Haweswater - Walking -
There are lots of walks in this area to suit everyone, from casual strolls along the side of the lake to strenous hikes up to the highest peaks.

•  Mardale (2 Miles) - The flooded Mardale Valley. The inhabitants were moved out and the hamlet of Mardale was flooded to end their way of life forever.
